Calculate, reduce and compensate for carbon emissions

In order to prove its environmental credibility and assess the carbon footprint of its products, the European printing industry has a quality tool at its disposal: Intergraf’s recommendations on calculating CO2 emissions in the printing industry. It is based on 3 indicators of the International Greenhouse Gas Protocol and identifies 13 parameters that cover 95% of all carbon emissions in the printing process. Intergraf now goes a step further and provides a roadmap for CO2 calculation, CO2 reduction and CO2 compensation in the printing industry.

As the market increasingly seeks carbon offset instead of looking at potential reductions in CO2 emissions and CO2 consumption and energy consumption.

Namely, the reduction of carbon emissions would be among the requirements of the upcoming European regulation on eco-design for sustainable products, which means that the demand for reducing the CO2 footprint of printed products will increase further.
